    Boycotting travel to USA?

    Apr 3 at 12:06 PM

My family has decided to avoid travel into USA until either Trump or latest tariffs have been removed. We have some family members who reside in the states, and they fully understand and agree with us about not travelling there. We will miss frequent trips to Bottineau, Minot, Fargo and Bismarck and we do not wish to do this but feel we have no alternatives. What is your opinion on this situation and are you making decisions on avoiding travel to USA?

The minute mr de facto authoritarian won their election, it was a no-go for the next four years for us. I've posted enough stuff that's not so flattering to the ole guy that no doubt could come up if customs did any kind of quick search. There are better places to travel that don't involve however that conversation would go.

Do know a couple people that make regular trips South that aren't doing it this year, have to think it's adding up!

have zero interest in crossing the border for any reason. The citizens of the USA elected him twice, hard not to hold them responsible .

Trump could do a lot of crazy things in the next few years and it takes awhile to change them.

No travel to US for any reason including to change flights.

They can jail anyone and they have for any reason at all.

Now checking your cellphone for any negative reference to trump.

They had the right to go trough your phone and electronics way before Trump - if you got nothing to hide you got nothing to worry about . Just came back from a short trip and it was actually friendlier going in and coming back

Outside of Fox News and some USA far right echo chambers, a perspective like this might pass for a ridiculous false equivalency. Thats generally how the goal posts have been getting moved. Try to justify a broadly awful thing by cherry picking fragments of info from much smaller isolated incidents and try to use them to justify the awful. I’d like to think it’s been going on long enough that folks outside of that bubble are pretty wise to it and can spot the difference.

As far as the original topic, I noticed the California governor is trying to appeal to Canadians to travel there despite what Washington is doing. The read through there is that the travel boycotts are adding up and starting to make a difference. The governor doesn't quite get that it's not just a matter of national sovereignty but also now safety for a lot of folks. Until he and his state can figure out how to inspire change in Washington to what's causing the problem in the first place, I imagine we're going to see a lot of folks give Europe and Japan a closer look along with of course traveling in this beautiful country we live in.

You’re locked in an algorithmic echo chamber. Parroting republican talking points while the facts are far different and incredibly easy to look up just makes you appear unhinged.

Of course, you’ll take any critical observations of your particular views as just “left woke nonsense” I’m sure - so I won’t waste much more time.

But I will say this: It’s alarming how easy it is to brainwash folks like yourself and it sends chills down my spine that a certain political party in Canada repeats the same terrible rhetoric about “woke” and a “tough on crime” stance straight out of the right-wing playbook.

You have to ask yourself why your main source of news and information is a an entertainment channel (FOX News) that was literally held liable for $500 Million for lying.

Stop and think and use your critical thinking skills.

I had to renew my passport, it expires in April. But I have no intention on making any travel plans to the USA until after 2028.

I was in Boston for a business trip in December, and it was alarming when our Uber Driver, who was obviously new to the US was excited about Trump taking over.
